Mugler’s 1998 SS Couture show is distinct.

Interesting proportions, great colors, and masterful tailoring. I mean— bad fuckin models! Mugler had it all here.

He truly tackles a lot with this show. It’s refreshing to see a collection like this. Mugler spares no expense in creativity with these 60 or so looks. He holds no bars in terms of what he will or will not put on the runway! Truly, only the greatest designers have enough courage to do that with a couture showing. And only a few do it well. Which is what you have here.

Here are some of the looks from the show.

1st image *black gloves: Wanted to point out first the look on the left— then you see a backwards jacket, and that becomes the main focus. Both looks are equally clean. The belted jacket on the left almost looks like armor on the model. Reexamine the right again, and it starts to look like something from a cartoon. It’s astonishing.

2nd to left image: This outfit was simply cool. There’s hardware on the side of the top— acting as a strap. Something unique and ingenious. The slouched design and color of the top were also great choices. Mugler just did it different. The outfit, including purple leggings, gave the look a sensual aesthetic overall. Nonetheless, excellent look— futuristic-like and sexy.

Last look

3rd to the right of the 2nd image: This jawn. The pieces she’s wearing are beautiful in this look. The jacket is damn near a bridal dress. It’s unique and yet still regal. The cowl and accompanying cape are interesting as well. Looking at the way the jacket is cut as it gets to the lower half is mesmerizing. Footwear could have been different.

Gonna leave more looks after these just for viewing. Overall, good show. Very different. Which is what fashion needed and still needs. It’s also important to point out Mugler’s use of accessories and jewelry in this collection. He utilized them extensively, along with nudity at points. But I ain’t mad at em.
